Please share with me how you plan to get the word out about the Boy Scout Connection to your membership and use it to increase membership.

 

My Goals  of this e-mail is to:

·         Make sure that each brother knows about the Boy Scout Connection.

·         To use the Boy Connection properly to increase our membership.

·         To use the Boy Scout Connection to increase our visible in the public eye.

·         The future of our organization is getting more youth members.

·         To have more lodge's websites have information and links to the Boy Scout Connection.

·         Please contact all Boy Scout Councils in your area to put the information about the Boy Scout Connection on their websites.

·         Better Communications is the key to our future.

·         Put in your newsletters and mailing about the Boy Scout Connection.

·         To sponsor more scouting units and activities.

Our Membership and the Boy Scout Connection 

            The Knights of Pythias will give every New Eagle Boy Scout a Pythian Eagle Scout Certificate and Patch for their Eagle Scout Court of Honor.  

     They just have to go to the following website and fill out the form at: http://www.pythias.org/scouts/scouts.html

    We can use all this information to offer all new eagle scouts, their parents and friends free or discounted membership for the first year that they become a member of the Knights. We have a great way to promote our order but we are not fully using it properly.  We have been missing out on a golden opportunity to introduce ourselves and our Order to the families and friends of these Eagle Scouts and their Boy Scout Troop.  One of our members should make a personal presentation at the scout's eagle court of honor. Take a picture and put it the local newspapers. This presentation allows us to introduce our Order, our Principles of Friendship, Charity and Benevolence, including giving the Knights of Pythias the name recognition we so deserve. We can increase our membership in our areas. Try it now.  Follow up is very important after we make the Eagle Certificate & Patch presentation.

      The National Boy Scout Jamboree is taking place next July, 2010 in Virginia.  It will be the one hundred anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.  Here is a great opportunity to introduce our organization to 40,000 scouts. Let's start planning for this event now. They come from all over the country. 

*We should consider having a member in each lodge in charge of Public Relations.  

 "Communications and Education is the key to our growth"  

     The future of our order rests in the youth.  In order for our organizations to grow, we must look at things in a new mindset and be willing to try new methods and ideas. We must use every means of communications to spread the word about organization.  We must try new approaches, methods in order to keep up with the times.  Change is hard, but in order to grow we must change our outlook and methods in order to increase our membership.  It is always easy, always to accept the status quo on things.  Action speakers louder than all the words.

Let's put our words into action now!
